Autumn Potion Shop | Sensory & Imaginative Play Pack
Autumn Potion Shop | Sensory & Imaginative Play Pack
A potion station made for crunchy leaves, autumn treasures and all the lovely little things children collect at this time of year.
The Autumn Potion Shop is a printable play pack designed to turn simple seasonal finds into an open ended invitation to mix, pour, smell, squash, stir, explore and create. Add water, fallen leaves, herbs, berries, petals, pine cones, conkers, twigs, bowls and spoons and see where the children take it.
At the heart of the pack are 8 illustrated autumn potion cards including Autumn Rosehip Potion, Spiced Apple Tea, Woodland Soup, Pumpkin Flower Water, Autumn Leaf Mix, Golden Harvest Potion, Forest Floor Magic and Berry Dust.
They aren't recipes children have to copy perfectly. They're simply little starting points, with prompts to encourage children to notice what is happening. What can you smell? What changed when you mixed it? What does it feel like? What might happen next?
You'll also find a collection of Autumn Potion Station signs and labels to turn a mud kitchen, outdoor table or sensory area into a potion shop, including Potion Shop Open, Nature Café, Potion Mixing Area, Ingredients, Tools, Water Station, Finished Potions, Drying Station and Potion Makers at Work, alongside simple Potion Station Rules.
The final set of prompt cards gives you another way to use the pack without directing the play. What can you see? What can you smell? What can you hear? What can you feel? What can you mix? What might happen? Can you create? What will you do next?
The same little station can support communication and language, sensory exploration, imaginative play, fine motor development, early scientific thinking, prediction, cause and effect and connection with the natural world without turning it into another adult led activity.
