Create a calm, inviting space where children can slow down, observe, collect, sort and explore the little treasures of the natural world. The Woodland Invitation Table uses simple resources such as conkers, acorns, pinecones, leaves, wooden animals and magnifying glasses to encourage curiosity without directing exactly where the play should go. Children might collect and compare, create their own arrangements, investigate textures or begin imaginative woodland stories of their own.     Woodland Invitation Table

The learning can grow with the child. The invitation includes adaptations from 9–18 months through to 4–5 years, moving from sensory discovery and transporting to sorting, language, collaborative enquiry and early scientific thinking. There is a strong focus on inclusive, child-led practice, with guidance for adapting the environment and resources, supporting communication and considering adult interactions.
