Mark Making: Encourage children to trace the dotted lines using fingers, brushes or mark making tools.
Colour Exploration: Add coloured rice, sand or other suitable sensory materials inspired by the vibrant colours of rangoli.
Pattern Discovery: Explore the shapes, colours and repeating patterns within the illustrations.
Creative Invitation: Provide playdough, loose parts or mark making materials for children to create their own rangoli inspired designs.
Festival of Lights: Use the printables alongside age appropriate books, photographs and conversations about Diwali celebrations.
Inclusive and adaptable
Designed to support children at different developmental stages, including children with SEND.
For younger children, focus on simple sensory exploration, sweeping movements and discovering the hidden colours beneath the sand.
Older or more confident children can explore tracing, pattern recognition, symmetry and creating their own designs.
Children can participate through touching, brushing, pointing, observing, communicating or using their preferred mark making tools.
Adapt the materials to suit individual sensory preferences and physical needs. For children who prefer not to touch sand, offer larger handled brushes or alternative materials such as fabric pieces to lift and reveal the illustrations.
Use age appropriate materials and supervise sensory play, particularly where small loose parts are involved.
Little hands. Colourful discoveries. Meaningful celebrations.
A simple, engaging resource that celebrates creativity, curiosity and the beauty of Diwali while encouraging children to explore through play.
