Bring a familiar zoo story into early maths with this set of six illustrated number cards, designed to help children explore quantities from 1–6 through playful, visual representations. The cards provide a simple starting point for developing number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence and early subitising skills. Children can begin to recognise small quantities visually, count the animals to check, match quantities to numerals or use the cards alongside real objects and small-world animals.

They’re intentionally versatile rather than being a one-use worksheet. Add them to a Dear Zoo-inspired play invitation, use them alongside animal figures for matching and counting, hide them around the room for a number hunt or invite children to build their own groups to match each card.
