Little Wandle - The Gingerbread Post Office | Christmas Phonics & Deliveries
Special delivery! The Gingerbread Village Post Office is officially open!
Deep in a snowy little village, tucked between the gingerbread houses and frosted Christmas trees, a very special post office is preparing for its busiest time of year!
But there's a problem... the gingerbread postmaster needs some little helpers to make sure every letter reaches the right house!
Introducing The Gingerbread Post Office, a beautifully illustrated, playful phonics resource designed to bring early reading, sound recognition and imaginative learning together in one magical Christmas invitation.
Featuring Little Wandle Phase 2 graphemes from Sets 1 and 2, this collection encourages children to recognise sounds, match letters, explore early word building and deliver special parcels through meaningful, hands-on play.
No repetitive worksheets, just a little festive imagination and plenty of opportunities for early literacy development!
How could you use it?
Post the sounds: Cut out and laminate the gingerbread envelopes, then encourage children to identify each grapheme before posting it through the Gingerbread Post Office.
Special deliveries: Write graphemes onto the blank gingerbread houses and invite children to deliver the matching envelopes to the correct address.
Sound hunts: Hide the envelopes around your provision for children to discover, recognise and post.
Build a word: Select several envelopes and encourage children to arrange the graphemes to build simple words using sounds they have already learned.
Gingerbread village role play: Create a little post office with envelopes, baskets, parcels and writing materials, encouraging children to become postmasters and delivery helpers.
Mark making and early writing: Use the blank houses for children to practise writing familiar graphemes or creating their own addresses.
Phonics pathways: Use the Gingerbread Village Special Deliveries mat to create a matching game, encouraging children to travel along the winding paths to deliver their letters.

A little note from The Early Years Edit
We believe phonics should be purposeful, playful and full of opportunities for children to explore.
The Gingerbread Post Office was created to bring a little magic to early reading, transforming familiar graphemes into letters waiting to be delivered and simple sound recognition into an imaginative village adventure.
Whether your children are posting their very first sounds or confidently building words, this resource can grow alongside their developing skills.
Print, cut out and laminate to create a festive phonics invitation you can enjoy year after year!
Digital download only. No physical product will be posted. Envelopes, props and additional play resources are not included.
